Warsaw's Old Town, Stare Miasto, is the finest and most picturesque part of the city.
It is the heart of Warsaw, with narrow cobbled streets, colorful historic buildings, and a fairytale character. This tiny cluster of archways and courtyards round the Main Market Square was once the whole extent of the city.
While a Renaissance-period New Town sprang up beyond its borders, and the surrounding countryside was built over with the palatial homes of important noblemen, Warsaw remained within the bounds of the Old Town you see today, surrounded by high defensive walls.
It was built during the 12th to 13th century and is surrounded by 14th-century fortification walls. It played a major role in Poland's history and cultural life since the beginning of its existence and continues to do so even today, and it is a World Heritage property.
The redbrick Barbican was built around 1548 by architect Giovanni Battista Venetian: a semicircular, defensive, impressive bastion topped with a decorative Renaissance parapet, reinforced with four defensive towers. During World War II, nearly the entire Barbican was completely destroyed, and after the war, it was decided to rebuild the walls surrounding the former Old Town, together with the Barbican. The reconstruction was carried out on the basis of 17th-century engravings and used brick from Gothic buildings demolished in Nysa and Wrocław.
Warsaw's Barbican definitely lends an aesthetic touch to the city, recreating the feel of another era, when high walls and deep moats could protect a city from destruction. Today, it serves as a bridge between the Old and New Town and is also the hangout of choice for buskers and a popular spot for art sellers.
It is nice to walk around the beautiful remnant of the old defensive walls, the temperature's below freezing, but I can stand it carried away by the magic of this picturesque area.
I'm wearing a casual look, but with romantic and decidedly feminine details: a cozy sweater, a lovely feather jacket and a pair of floral print sneakers, all in shades of pink.

Location: Old Town - the Barbican - Warsaw - Poland

I was wearing:
Phard feather jacket and sweater
Met jeans
Estiara sunglasses
Chanel brooch, belt, and bag
Adidas cap and sneakers
